Prompt 6: Indigo
Indigo is a rich color that is associated with a variety of things including: magic, experience, truth, dignity, virtue, dreams, profanity, inferiority, imagination, luxury, wisdom, spirit, destiny, elegance, intuition.
The world is full of magic things,
patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper —W.B. Yeats
What magic have you experienced in your life? Have you come to appreciate it differently as you grow older? What experiences have brought you wisdom?
Please feel free to answer in whichever way comes naturally to you, be it a memory you share or an artwork you create. If you’d like a more specific idea to kick things off: write a letter to your younger self about things you’ve learned that relate to the indigo theme (can also be a character writing to their younger self).
I've been struggling with this prompt and what I was going to write for a couple of days now. It all comes down to one main thing - I don't like the colour indigo. I wasn't quite aware of how much until I had such knee-jerk reaction to the prompt of 'DO NOT LIKE'. I don't know why I don't like it, but it's... draining and dramatic. It makes me feel super uncomfortable. I know that's a strange reaction to have to a colour but I can't help it.
I'm trying to think if I know any interesting art/history nerdings about the colour. It's named for India because the dye was originally imported from India. I know it's connected with the third eye and all things new agey - intuition, perception etc and I think I remember reading about a connection between indigo auras and ESP.

Date: 2020-07-23 09:45 pm (UTC)I don't think I like Indigo that much either, tbh. I think it makes perfect sense to be put off by certain colours. Don't worry about it :) Also, thanks for the nice history facts!
